It seems like there could be another Zune variant coming out sometime (according to Engadget). It could be called the Zune HD (which when Googled will reveal the product and the famous hard drive mod). No word on specs yet (other than it being a touchscreen device), but with a name like Zune HD, that screen had better kick some serious ass. Engadget comments have linked this to the HTC Touch Pro since the form factor and screen size and position look similar. _________________

would be very very nice to see the specs... could be a home like button right below the screen... hell some palm pre touch effects on the metal lip would be amazing as well...
my predictions...
•web browser... must have for a device like this (shitty IE probably)
•app store (again needed to even compete with the iPod touch)
•zune"HD" better mean a high pixel density screen (????x720 not 720x???)
•bluetooth support (as of 3.0 every ipod touch 2.0 will have it)
•HD radio... just makes fucking sense
edit... wonder if it will still be HDD based? or SSD based? or just go the flash chip route _________________

god i hate all the zune owners on engadget and gizmodo who say that the zune software is the best software out... they bought a zune after the new software came out and just praise it on being pretty and just working perfect...
if only they knew about the old software... if only they new _________________

actually i like how you could change the song information and album art without having a account like iTune. Then i found that you could control the player using media keys even when it running in background like wmp (like when you playing a game), maybe just i havent found the settings for it. Another thing i like is that the play behave like a web browser that you could navigate using back/forward keys on the mouse, which i found to be useful.
beside all those, i think i could switch to iTune anytime.
btw, which use more resources? iTune or Zune Player? i actually experience that iTune slow my laptop down somehow. |

yeah... itunes on a mac and a pc is like night and day...
pc is bloated shit and on a mac its like perfect
apple needs to kick its ass into gear like safari and get itunes to behave like a windows app and not a mac app on a pc... it just doesn't work like they thought _________________

I felt a certain Firefox vibe going on when I used Safari, almost like a new skin.

That list is almost exactly what I want out of this device. When it comes to resolutions, there's not much to compete with (the Sony Xperia X1 has 800x480, and it's one of the higher resolution models I've seen); although playing actual high-def content (1280x720 or 1920x1080) would murder either the device or the battery. I would be content with PAL widescreen (720x576), but we use NTSC in the States. 720x480 would be pretty sweet too on a 3.5" screen. I also hope they would write a new browser, instead of a port of the IE from Windows Mobile, that version just sucks. HD Radio would be sweet too (especially AM, since the decoder would filter out all of that analog noise the device would make). I would also think they would be going the flash route; since it's the cheapest. Hard drives are seriously going out of style and SSDs are too expensive.
And call me crazy, but I had a more stable experience with the new software vs. the old software. Granted, I liked the older software better (every version of Windows Media Player pwned everything else until 12 rolled along), but I can accomplish as much with the new software as I could have with the old.
If iTunes used the built-in media playing capabilities that Windows has (I honestly don't know what that consists of) instead of using Quicktime on both platforms, then performance would be on par for both Macs and Windows PCs. _________________
